We woke early due to our body clocks still being out of whack, and went to visit Morges a smallish village near Lully. As we still had no news about our lost bag, we bought some clothes at the local department store, and strolled around the village. They had a lovely market on, selling big sides of ham and cheeses, fresh fruit etc. It seemed impossible to get average food here, everything is what we’d call “gourmet”. We then headed to Christine’s favourite little bakery selling delicious ham & cheese croissants, chocolate bread and beautiful pastries, for a mid afternoon snack.
Later that afternoon, Andy took us to see his bachelor pad in the centre of Lausanne. It was a great little apartment which was in the middle of everything. Walk downstairs and you’d be in the middle of all the shops, restaurants and nightlife. We explored the city, all the buildings are old and have loads of character. The roads are made of cobble stone, and there is a massive old cathedral- Cathedrale Notre Dame- with the biggest pipe organ you’ve ever seen and lots of amazing stain glass windows and architecture. We also looked around Lake Geneva, which is a huge lake that looks across to the French Alps.

That afternoon Andy introduced us to his friends who we ended up meeting again at night so that they could introduce us to the Lausanne nightlife. The nightclub we went to was a crazy little place, completely underground. It was pretty empty when we reached the club at 10pm, but Andy assured us we only came early to get some seats. He was absolutely right, as the club quickly filled up until there wasn’t an inch to move. In Lausanne it seems the best way to buy drinks is to purchase spirits by the bottle. A bottle of Cuban rum will set you back about CHF $140 ($150 AUD) and it includes unlimited mixers, like soft drinks or juices. At about 2am, we finally got the courage to squeeze our way through to the crazy-packed dancefloor- and it was worth it! After a few more drinks, we decided it was time to head home. Got through the door at 4am and fell straight into bed.
